On Monday 14th July 2014, around thirty year 7’s have had the chance to experience China’s qualities of life. They have learnt a traditional Chinese dance, made dumplings and painted calligraphy (Chinese words).

They have learnt these skills to get a feel of the Chinese culture. Some Chinese people have come to the Willink to teach the children, they come from all over China. They have different types of equipment including the Chinese writing brushes for calligraphy.

The year 7’s watched different Chinese dances and even joined in. Most of the students seemed to be enjoying themselves. One of the year 7’s described it as “Strange but interesting”.

In the cooking workshop, they made dumplings and noodles. One of the children said “We are making dumplings, it is really fun”.

Activity director Mrs Tang told us that there is a trip to China every two years. Many year 7’s sound very interested in the trip and hope to go when it is their turn.

The Chinese visitors said “We hope we can come next year for activity week and teach again”.

Here below is a few pictures, clip on them below to view a larger picture.
